Forty years ago, Bandai’s video game PAC-MAN changed the video gaming scene, and in the wake of the trend reported in our Halo Licensing Survey, a series of collaborations have been announced and launched with fashion, streetwear and accessories partner brands.
One of the most interesting is the one with Kipling, the brand of bags and accessories now part of VF Corporation and distributed through a network of 436 Kipling stores and 7,500 doors in 80 territories. Kipling shares with Pac Man the 80’s vibes, a brand which is born in Antwerp in 1987 and rapidly become famous thakns to its iconic crinkled nylon bags.
This flashy pop-urban collection celebrates “ being on the move”, as proposed by the dedicated shop in shop at Kipling e-store: “through the maze of contemporary cities”. 28 items ranging from 12€ of the Pac Man key-ring to 219 € of the Curiosity Pac Man cabin trolley, all featuring the hungry Pac Man and the coloured phantoms in bold prints and zip pullers. With a delicacy: the Kipling famous zip puller chimpanzee has been redesigned for the occasion with a pixelled outline, in honour of the 80’s video game aesthetics.
