The eyewear brand Oliver Peoples, born in 1987 in the heart of West Hollywood California, now owned by Luxottica Group, has created a capsule collection inspired by the famous Hollywood actor Cary Grant and his iconic style.

Los Angeles culture, fashion, movies, art, and music, continues nowadays to be a source of inspiration for this brand and this collaboration confirms it.

Cary Grant’s charismatic character, Roger Thornhill, in the famous thriller “North by Northwest” has inspired this iconic capsule collection composed of six colorways,  where shapes and materials deliver a loyal representation of Cary Grant’s sophisticated nature with a touch of modernity. An exclusive touch is given by the monogram “CG” on the temple tip of the frame, created from Cary Grant’s personal stationery, and by a custom case inspired by the colors of the suit he wore in the film.

The Cary Grant capsule will be available from this week in Oliver Peoples boutiques and online, and from May at select wholesale partners, with a price range between $380-$560 for the optical offering, and $415 to $635 for the sun.

This capsule collection is the first-ever authorized collaboration with the actor’s estate and it’s also the first time his name and likeness have been loaned to any brand.

Like the collaborations of Borsalino and Aquascutum developed with the Humphrey Bogart Estate, this project falls into the many licensing-driven brand innovation activations, which offer great storytelling opportunities at an accessible investment level for brands.
