The French accessories designer, known for her whimsical hand-embroidered book clutches, few months ago left her eponymous brand to join the design team of Marc Jacobs.
Despite her role as head of style hasn’t been filled in yet, the label’s internal team is taking care of design and they come out with a new collaboration with Jean-Michel Basquiat, just in time for the US artist exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
The capsule collection signed by the French brand is composed by six bags and three book-shaped clutches, its signature model. The collection borrows some of the most emblematic Jean-Michel Basquiat’s motifs: the yellow crown, the dinosaur-shaped PEZ candy dispenser and the banana, a tribute to Andy Warhol.
This is not the brand first licensed collaboration, since the beginning of her fashion adventure the French designer offered her followers (like Chiara Ferragni and Katy Perry) a series of collabs ranging from art, literature and cartoons. Le-Tan’s last collection was also followed by a Minnie Mouse-themed capsule collection for Japanese retailer Uniqlo, and a makeup range with Lancôme last fall. Her traits are for sure unique and it’s not always easy to replace such a creativity, anyway, her former team seem to be managing her legacy pretty well with this new capsule collection, we look forward to see what they will come up with next,
