Paris Fashion Week closed with a special catwalk celebrating the 90th anniversary of Disney’s dearest icons, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
In the magical location of Disneyland Paris, Opening Ceremony unveiled the ultimate Disney collaboration. After dozens of Disney-inspired collections – from mass-market to high-end – OC’s “Mickey the True Original” collection seems to show there is a lot more that can still be done.
The campaign spans fashion collaborations with other brands like Vans, New Era, Canada Goose and features content and events that embrace Mickey’s impact on the past, present and future.
This Mickey-inspired collection designed by couture brand Opening Ceremony is loose and comfortable. Bold colors and a wide variety of revamped Mickey iconography – ranging from retro Mickey heads to patchwork Disney logos – are the signature of the collection.
The founders of the brand, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, are big fans of Mickey Mouse and were obsessed with the idea of creating a true Mickey runway collection. They were conscious of the fact that countless Disney apparel collabs have come before, so they worked on the idea of creating something that could leave a mark.
They searched in Disney’s product archives to come up with an unusual collection that wisely mixes the cartoon’s sense of style and the classic Disney iconography like unconventional prints and dress sleeves that reference Mickey’s famous ears.
The range includes menswear, womenswear and unisex pieces and will be the first Disney fashion collab to be sold inside Disneyland theme parks and on Disney cruises. Part of the collection, including some T-shirts, a tracksuit and a letterman jacket, will be also available now on ShopDisney.com, at OpeningCeremony.com and in stores. The rest of the range, including the gowns, will drop next October.
